Djembe – African Hand Drumming.  

Cheikh Diop from Senegal now resident in the UK is a member of the group ‘Tribal’ Vibes, for more information visit www.tribalvibes.org.uk .  As well as putting on performances they provide workshops in schools across the UK.

The djembe, played extensively in many countries in West Africa, has become a popular instrument around the world.  Now many Djembe drumming groups exist in many communities.  

Cheikh’s workshops provide a relaxed atmosphere where the group learn, co-ordination, co-operation and good listening skills.  It is also a great way to learn rhythm and a good starting point for learning other instruments
