Creative Learning - Music
Our first project ‘Creative Learning – Music’ was funded by the European Social Fund and the National Assembly for Wales. The funding enabled us to carry out a variety of workshops for young people aged 16yrs to 25yrs, in Llandrindod Youth Club, Llandrindod High School and Builth High School including their Special Unit and Llandrindod Dance Centre.
The workshops included Kora, Djembe, Singing, Song Writing,DJ, Dance and World Percussion. We also gave assistance to young local bands, i.e. trips to recording studio, recording rehearsals, and general advice.
Many young people in these rural, isolated communities were given the opportunity to express their creativity, build confidence and learn new skills. They were introduced to music, instruments and people from other cultures, thereby broadening there knowledge of the world.
With the funding we were also able to purchase mobile recording equipment, which we used to record workshops and produce CD’s. Copies of the CD’s were then given to participants of the workshops. We also used the equipment to record bands during rehearsals giving them the opportunity to assess their progress.
